Empowered Educator - Members

No prior experience in online teaching is required for this micro-credential. While the program is suitable for all postsecondary educators looking to enhance their skills, those new to teaching might consider beginning with the Online Teaching Fundamentals program. The Empowered Educator program is designed for a broad range of educational roles, not exclusively for current instructors or professors, allowing participants to leverage their professional experiences in various educational capacities.

Yes! We have built in opportunities for synchronous interactions through our live, weekly, optional discussion sessions. These will give you an opportunity to interact with your peers, clear doubts about any specific topic with your program facilitator or just share your learning journey. Sessions will be held over Zoom. Check the schedule to get an idea of when the facilitated sessions will be occurring.

Throughout the Empowered Educator program, you’ll work through six modules, engage in a range of activities in our Learning Management System. Exercises in the course include completing readings, interactive activities and assessments. You’ll be asked to create activities using a range of educational technologies. Successfully finishing all course components and submitting your activities results in earning the Empowered Educator Micro-credential, which recognizes your ability to enhance learning experiences with new technologies.

Once you complete any of eCampusOntario's Professional Learning programs, you’ll be able to claim your credential and add it to your Wallet by following a simple setup process. Sharing your accomplishments with employers, professional networks, or institutions is just a few clicks away.

Attend as many sessions as possible to contribute to our growing community of practice and maximize your learning experience. If you want to complete the Empowered Educator program quickly and learn in collaboration with other post-secondary education professionals, the Empowered Educator Micro-Credential Sprint is for you! A Sprint is a fast-paced, 3-week learning experience designed to help you complete the program efficiently while engaging with a community of peers. A Sprint Leader will support you throughout the Sprint and guide you through the module activities. Sprint meetings are a great opportunity to interact with your peers, ask questions, clarify concepts, and share your learning journey.
